Where to Promote Your Blog
There are so many places we can go to promote our blogs… Zillow, Trulia, Realtor.com. But this article from Broker Agent News brings up a really good point. In the grand scheme of internet searches, do these niche sites really matter? find out
Kewl Kudos
I had no idea that my Reno Realty Blog would ever be a featured topic at somebody’s meeting, but then I found the All Denver Real Estate Blog. What I especially love is that this blog team is putting forth a coordinated effort, getting together on a regular basis to discuss ways to improve, and blogging about their progress in a behind-the-scenes format that lets readers know they are serious about providing meaningful content. This team is off to a great start!
Blogging Done Well
Recently I was honored by Sellsius as one of the top 12 women bloggers in 2007. This is a huge honor for which I am truly grateful, but my fellow bloggers with whom I shared the spotlight are talented professionals we can all learn from.
Teresa Boardman, St Paul, Minnesota: Teresa is either the mother or queen of blogging, I’m not sure which, but as a broker she has been running her local blog for a couple of years now. One of the most famous realty bloggers out there, she is a prolific writer and adamant about the importance of lots and lots of pictures posted online. If I were relocating from another place and wanted to see what St Paul is like, I would certainly turn to Teresa’s site first. She is right… pictures make a HUGE difference.
Kris Berg, San Diego, California: Kris is an incredibly talented writer, the kind of person who writes so well, it makes you kind of scared to try this whole blogging thing. I don’t know if a masters in journalism is in her background, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it were so. Her posts are filled with voice, personality, humor and truthiness… each piece wrapping beautifully back to its beginning for the perfect finish. And even though we may never write as well, we can still learn from Kris and find our own success online.
Maureen Francis, Birmingham, Michigan: Maureen’s miOakland County is an absolute classic example of a well done local blog. She employs the cornerstone market statistics piece in detail, talks about local community events, provides the on-the-street agent anecdotes, and serves up the inside info on her marketplace that potential buyers and sellers incessantly crave. Another example of where I would turn if I were moving to Michigan.
Laurie Manny, Long Beach, California: Laurie authors an exceptional, hyper-local blog about downtown condos in Long Beach. Filled with local market statistics, the cornerstone of every great blog, she also gets into local issues, comments on market trends, and links to everything you need to know about making the move to Long Beach.
Kristal Kraft, Denver, Colorado: Kristal has created another classic local blog, with neighborhood info, lots of pictures, market data and happenings around town. In addition, she offers many great features right on her front page, including MLS search, recommended books, email updates, a tag cloud, relocation resources and direct links to her listings.
Roberta Murphy, San Diego, California: Roberta’s Luxury Home Digest is great source for luxury trends not only in her own backyard, but nationwide. I would imagine that her referral business in the luxury market is quite strong.
Ines Hegedus-Garcia, Miami, Florida: Ines writes a lively and fun blog touching on all the great reasons to live and play in her hometown. Full of personality and voice with lots of neighborhood info, it’s a great local resource for out-of-towners.
Frances Flynn Thorsen, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania: Frances authors the popular REALTYgram blogger and is also a real estate blog coach. She coached the winner of Active Rain’s Project Blogger and has developed a series of webinars geared toward beginners that seem like a great way to learn the basics blogging for real estate.
Missy Caulk, Ann Arbor, Michigan: Missy writes a very informative blog about her local real estate market on Active Rain, which is a friendly place to start and probably provides valuable added exposure. Interestingly, as this particular blogging venue morphs into a powerful agent referral network, Missy is well positioned for growth in this aspect of her business.
Sharon Simms, St Petersburg, Florida: Sharon is one of the most popular and prolific Active Rainers out there, who writes a blog filled with all kinds of market data and local information. Also poised for tremendous referral growth, she has parlayed that popularity to her own local blog, a wise move.
Rhonda Porter, Seattle, Washington: Okay, so maybe she isn’t a real estate agent, but she’s obviously a knowledgeable mortgage planner. She writes a great blog mixing mortgage rate information, lender shopping tips, and local community info in such a way that you immediately trust her. If I needed a loan in Washington, I would call her first.
